Job Purpose:
To lead the selection, development, and testing of advanced materials that enhance the
performance, durability, and sustainability of sports goods. The role drives innovation by
combining scientific expertise with cross-functional collaboration to deliver next-generation
products backed by measurable improvements.
Job Specification:
- Experience: Proven experience in material research and application within manufacturing,
preferably in sports equipment, footwear, or performance-driven consumer products. - Education: Master’s degree (M.Sc.) in Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, or a
related discipline. - Background: Demonstrated ability to translate material science into commercially viable,
performance-enhancing products.
Key Responsibilities & Accountability:
- Identify, test, and develop optimal materials (polymers, composites, metals, textiles,
rubber, coatings, leather) for sports equipment and footwear. - Establish performance benchmarks and validate improvements with measurable data
versus current and competitor products. - Conduct material testing and analysis (tensile, impact, fatigue, durability, etc.) to ensure
product reliability. - Collaborate with marketing to incorporate consumer insights into material innovations.
- Partner with design and production teams to convert research into scalable,
manufacturable products. - Contribute to innovation initiatives including patents, research publications, and product
launches. - Explore sustainable and eco-friendly material options where applicable.
- Engage with suppliers, labs, and external collaborators for advanced material sourcing
and evaluation.
